The Issue

As a member of the working class, I find myself growing more frustrated and concerned each day as the cost of living skyrockets, leaving families struggling to make ends meet. At the forefront of this crisis is the soaring price of fuel, directly impacting our daily commute, groceries, and even the jobs we depend on. It's a burden that weighs heavily on ordinary Australians, with little indication of relief in sight.

Chris Bowen, the current Minister for Climate Change and Energy, has shown a clear lack of competence in managing one of the most pressing issues we face today—the exorbitant and ever-increasing fuel prices. Rather than providing effective solutions, the government continues to overlook the severity and immediate impact on millions of Australians.

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the average price of unleaded fuel has risen by over 17% in the last year alone, a number which is significantly above inflation and wage growth. This astronomical rise has left families having to choose between basic necessities and fuel to get to work or school, causing a snowball effect of financial hardship.

In light of these challenges, we demand decisive and immediate action. Chris Bowen must be held accountable for his inability to alleviate the growing economic pressures faced by the working class. We call for his resignation and for the government to appoint a leader who prioritises the needs of everyday citizens, focusing on sustainable and innovative solutions to bring down the cost of living.

We propose immediate steps to drop the cost of fuel, such as reducing fuel excise tax, as a measure to give households cost of living relief.

Join us in making our voices heard. It's time for a change in leadership to ensure a brighter, more affordable future. Please sign this petition to demand accountability and action from our leaders.
