Our collective efforts have paid off! On Thursday, March 6th, the Kansas City City Council voted UNANIMOUSLY to return animal control services to the City of Kansas City and not renew the animal services contract with KC Pet Project (but we strongly support KC Pet Project contracting with the city directly to continue running the shelter). This decisive action marks a huge victory for animal welfare in our community.

Thanks to your unwavering support and passionate advocacy, the animals in Kansas City are now set to receive the care they deserve. Your voices have been heard loud and clear, and you have made a lasting difference. We are immensely grateful for every signature, every share, and every word of encouragement.

Together, we’ve ensured that the city's animal control services will be run by the Neighborhood Planning and Development by the end of the year, promising better communication, enhanced transparency, and a much-needed commitment to resolving cases of cruelty and neglect.

Thank you for joining this journey. Your dedication has created a positive change for our furry friends, and it couldn’t have been done without you!

Hallelujah, the animals will finally have some help!

While this is a monumental win, there is still work to be done. As highlighted in the articles, we need targeted ordinances that will further help and protect our animals. The journey doesn't end here—we still have crucial steps to take to ensure lasting change. Stay tuned for upcoming ways to get involved and continue helping our furry friends. Let's keep the momentum going and continue to advocate for a kinder, more compassionate community!

With Gratitude,

Becca Craig
