Hello supporters,

I am so proud to announce council have announced that drop boxes will be decommissioned at the end of February, while this is an amazing announcement it still leaves lost pets vulnerable; with no alternative offered for where to place lost pets outside of business hours (9am-4:30pm). Council statements suggest community options include choosing to hold a pet in their yard and attempt to find owner via social media or simply let a animal roam, this is unacceptable; and I will continue to advocate for a better solution.

With the removal of these drop boxes following an RSPCA recommendation and review, there is added pressure now with homesafe id no longer operating. This company was a microchip data base, which now leave pets unable to be recognised by councils, rescues, vets RSPCA etc if lost; and owners are required to switch companies.

Animal management continue to reach capacity limiting the ability to hold lost pets, this also add to the pressures of how owners are reunited with lost pets. I will continue to challenge council to do better, to support community and the staff who work at this facility; if they cannot meet their obligations...pass the contract to an organisation who can support the needs of the region's properly.

Again thankyou for the support.

Missy's story has been vital in making these changes and bringing attention to a service, long neglected and overlooked.

Kind regards

Sarah
