We are witnessing an alarming rise in horrific crimes against women around the world, and it's up to us to raise our voices and demand justice. This week alone, there have been more than three shocking cases that reveal the urgent need for change:
In France, Gisèle Pélicot, a 72-year-old woman, bravely stood in court to confront her ex-husband and 50 other men accused of drugging and repeatedly raping her while she was unconscious. Her powerful testimony is a plea for justice and a call for the world to wake up to the brutal reality of such crimes.
In India, a gang rape case in Kolkata remains stalled due to a lack of evidence, underscoring the immense challenges victims face in seeking justice. Every delay in these investigations is another wound for survivors, another moment of pain that we cannot ignore.
In the U.S., Michael Lacey, co-founder of Backpage.com, was sentenced to five years in prison and fined $3 million for his involvement in a money laundering scheme tied to the promotion of prostitution. While this is a step towards accountability, he still faces numerous charges, revealing the ongoing battle against those who exploit and profit from the suffering of others.
These are not just stories; they are lived realities for countless women who face violence, exploitation, and a broken justice system every day. We need to be their voices. Sharing this petition can help build awareness and pressure the world to act. Every share matters. Every person who reads this can be part of the solution.
Please help us spread this message far and wide. We must not remain silent in the face of such suffering. Let’s take a stand together and demand justice for all who have been wronged.
