As we talk about absurdity of buildings on stilts, remember the New York State Assembly and Senate bills (A2128 and S2016) will close this crazy loophole for good! We have to cross the finish line on this in 2021!

Unfortunately, we received this update from the Brooklyn Botanic Garden:  Despite Mayor de Blasio’s publicly stated opposition to this "grossly out of scale" project, the developer is pushing forward with a proposal to build the same huge project with two nearly 40-story towers that would cast shadows over all of the greenhouses for much of the day and across the entire garden during certain seasons. The 960 Franklin Avenue Rezoning application by developers Lincoln Equities and Continuum Company will be on the agenda for the Department of City Planning’s Review Session on Monday, February 1, when it is likely to be certified to enter ULURP.

Monday’s review session is not itself a moment for public commentary, but it is open to the public to watch, which you can do here on Monday at 1 p.m.

We fully support the sentiment expressed in the headline of this  Op-Ed in The Architect's Newspaper which was written in support of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden:

New York City developments that impinge on important institutions or iconic views should be rejected
