Petition updateDemand an End to Real Estate Loopholes in NY

It's Spring and There's Reason to Celebrate Central Park During this Time of Crisis!

Save Central Park NYC
Mar 19, 2020

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation tells us that during the current COVID-19 public health crisis, getting outdoors and connecting with nature is a way to help maintain our mental and physical health - as long as we are 6 feet away from each.

Central Park has been a wonderful resource for visitors and those of us who live in the city. Today, the first day of spring, The New York Times recognizes the refuge Central Park is during this dark time.

Albany is still in session. We need the Senate and Assembly to pass A5026 and S3820 which will help protect our parks and open spaces. As New Yorkers, we need air, sunlight and nature to lift our spirits and provide a healthful outlet.

Stay safe and healthy and please share this petition. Closing the loopholes that developers are abusing is critical so that our parks are not overwhelmed by dark shadows.

Sample Letter:

Central Park and our open spaces are critical to our health, both mental and physical. This is truer today, during the current COVID-19 public health crisis. Our parks should not be for sale to the highest bidder!

It is urgent that A5026/S3820 be voted on this session. Developers are in a race to the top while residents of the City are being subject to lingering shadows in parks and neighborhoods. The out-of-context Mega-Towers are fraying the neighborhood fabric and they present a danger to FDNY responders and tenants alike.

Do the right thing! REBNY will fight this all the way, but this is not about profits this is about the health and livability of New York!
