2 Challenges advance to the BSA -- Come on Down!

Come join Save Central Park NYC and other advocacy groups and elected officials in support of legal and fair development!

The legality of the Extell Tower at  50 West 66th Street is being challenged by two organizations on August 6th at the Board of Standards and Appeals (BSA) at 10:00 am -- 22 Reade Street, New York, NY.
Open to the public where members of the audience are permitted to speak briefly.

Undermining zoning and developing a Mega Tower contrary to the “Special Lincoln Square District” in which it is being constructed is wrong! Two preservation groups, Landmark West!  (https://www.landmarkwest.org/36west66/ ) and The City Club (http://cityclubny.org )have concurrent appeals in front of the BSA. Both assert that the permit granted by the DOB is illegal.

As per City Club, the Extell skyscraper at 50 West 66th Street is the latest of those skyscrapers built on void space the only purpose of which is to raise the top floors to ultra-high levels (where apartments may be worth 30% or more than the same space lower down). In this one, the total height will be about 775 feet, of which about 196 feet will be massive vacant spaces, each up to 60 feet in height.

This is exactly the type of building that the Uniformed Firefighters Association has warned us about.

If this building is completed as proposed, we've been told that this structure will cast shadows from Central Park West to Bethesda Fountain!

Please join us at the BSA on August 6th.
