Accused killer Barr Faces next level of Court for killing of unarmed Salis Hanrahan.

On Wednesday, July 30, 2026, George Barr appeared at a hearing where prosecutors downgraded the top charge from murder to third-degree murder. He still faces third-degree murder along with the related charges (possession of an instrument of crime and recklessly endangering another person). The case is proceeding to the next stage of court.
In Pennsylvania, third-degree murder is still a first-degree felony (maximum 40 years). It covers killings done with malice — a hardened indifference to human life or extreme recklessness — but without the specific intent to kill required for first-degree murder. First-degree needs proof of intentional, premeditated killing. Third-degree does not. That lower intent threshold can make the charge more straightforward for prosecutors to prove at trial while remaining a very serious homicide charge. The fact that a judge found enough evidence to hold the case over means the prosecution’s case cleared the preliminary bar.
Barr has a prior aggravated and simple assault conviction from 1981. Reports continue to note that after the shooting he walked his dog, and there is no indication he called for help for Salis. First hand reports and witnesses say instead, Barr took his dog for a walk. It is important to mention that no calls to authorities were made by Barr before, during, or after altercation they ended Salis Life.
White supremacy shows its head yet again on another tragedy involving a minority. We are reminded exactly why we stand up and why we continue to fight the lies and the “retroactive justification” of the killing of unarmed young men and women by poster boys for the good-old-boys club.
Harassment of Salis Hanrahan’s family continues. Harassment of Travellers and Gypsies continues. Ignorance continues. We will not be quieted by fear of that ignorance. We do not fear cowardice — only the cowardice of our own making.
Salis Hanrahan deserves justice. Salis Hanrahan did not deserve to be gunned down and left to bleed out — regardless of the retroactive justifications white-supremacy activists would like us to cower and bow down to.
Please share the facts when you are presented with bigoted lies:
• Salis was unarmed.
• Salis had no prior convictions.
• His accused killer is a man with a prior aggravated assault conviction who shot him, left him to bleed out, and then walked a dog.
• Barr made zero calls for help to any authorities at any time — not during the work on his home, not during any dispute, and not after he shot a man.
Groups and individuals have made it their daily mission to vilify minority victims who would never be welcomed into the white-supremacy club. We cannot stand down and let them win.
We will deliver this, with your support, to every representative possible. We will continue to fight not only those who hate justice, but also the threats of violence that try to silence us.
Salis’s voice was taken by a cowardly act. We are blessed to still have a voice and the ability to stand up for truth and justice.
Thank you so much for every signature, every share, and every stand for unbiased justice on Change.org. Do not grow weary in well-doing. This unarmed young man will see unbiased justice.
Important court note: It is still significant that Barr faced a judge who found enough evidence to move this case to the next level of court — regardless of what certain voices keep spewing. He remains charged with third-degree murder and other serious offenses. Third-degree murder does not require proof of specific intent to kill the way first-degree does; it requires malice (extreme indifference to human life). That charge is still a first-degree felony carrying up to 40 years. The case is not over. Do not lose hope.
Salis Hanrahan’s family deserves the truth and accountability. We keep fighting.
