Believe it or not, Israel and Arab countries can be friends. As people of the book, we are a lot closer to one another than you think. The unprecedented actions of Iran proved that Israel is not alone. On the surface, it appears that Israel is completely isolated on the world stage. It faces a daily barrage of insults, attacks, and rabid condemnations in the international press. The official stance of many Arab governments is vehemently anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian. That's how things must appear in a volatile region like the Middle East.
Unfortunately, politics is a dirty business. There are often multiple tiers of operations running alongside one another - official and unofficial. Many ruling elites in Arab countries are precariously balanced. They risk being deposed, ousted, or violently overthrown by their people. Often, it is a self-perpetuating cycle of hate. By forcibly indoctrinating the people of Arab countries to hate Jews and Israel through clerics, schools, TV networks, radio, and the Internet, the ruling elites of Arab countries understand that outward support for Israel runs contrary to the grain.
Yes, there is an element of free-thinking politicians, academics, ideologues, influencers, leaders, and opinion makers that believe Israel is at fault for what is going on in Gaza and the West Bank. Like any society, people are free to form their own opinions. The difference in Arab countries is the entrenched hatred of Israel and Jews, which perpetuates a hateful narrative and makes it that much more challenging to accept Israel as the peace-seeking neighbor that it is. Make no mistake about it - Israel does not seek to expand its borders at the expense of any group of people.
Despite protestations to the contrary, Israel is a willing and able peace partner ONLY with effective Palestinian leadership. But of course, the Palestinians must renounce violence, denounce Hamas, and elect leaders who care and empathize with the people of Palestine about making things better. An ideology of hate is not going to fulfill any long-term Palestinian objectives. It's just a recipe for disaster. An ongoing cycle of violence serves nobody but the fanatical Islamists intent on sewing the seeds of destruction.
Today, we pay tribute to the nations of the world - Western and Arab - who helped Israel stave off a ferocious assault by the Islamic Republic of Iran. We are incredibly grateful to Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United States, Great Britain, and France for standing by Israel's security needs. We now see a new path forward, forged in iron bonds. The security of the Middle East relies on Israel and its partners. Efforts to isolate Iran must be implemented post-haste. We must turn the tables on Iran and reveal it to be the pariah of the world. That is how Israel can start winning the war on terror. Build bridges with good neighbors and act unilaterally whenever the need arises.
Let's get back on track!
