Its easy to forget about those without a voice, each one with a different story. As I fight for my family, its hard not to see the other families with pain and stories that can break your heart. While I primarily advocate for young adults. I have continued to find Dad's, husbands, brothers, women, Moms, sister's, wife's. It has open my eyes wide to the systemic racism involved in the legal system. First you criminalize, Second  you dehumanize, Third you put them behind Walls, and isolating them. It becomes easy to make them the problem the issue with our Communities. However if you dig deep you find that they are mostly regular people caught in the legal system that is working the way it is set to work. When in reality most  80-90% take a plea deal not based on truth but based on harm reduction. The sad fact just looking at how they charge  African American, Latino, indigenous people giving them 4-8 charges that carry lengthy sentences. They plea to 1 charge and receive a 5-10 year sentence with barriers upon release that sets them up to be re-arrested, locks them out of jobs, housing, education opportunities.  Than look at the mostly White group of people that broke into the Congress this week. Most not charged with serous crimes like breaking and entering but were charged with unlawful entry. BIG difference in outcome and cost. Thank you to all the people who have signed and shared help me get to 1000 signatures so that as I present my petition to law makers than can hear our voices. Please continue to help advocating for Policy and Legislation reform that changes how we practice law. Give Hope and Healing to those that have been discarded like trash by our society that doesn't value them as human-beings.
