The Falcon Warbirds Foundation has always been a cherished part of the community surrounding Falcon Field Airport. For years, they had maintained and displayed a collection of vintage aircraft. They opened up their hangar to visitors, offering tours and educational programs to schools and aviation enthusiasts alike.
However, all of that changed when the Airport Director decided to violate the lease agreement that had been approved by the City of Mesa Council. Suddenly, the Falcon Warbirds found themselves locked out of their hangar, unable to access their tools, equipment, or parts.
The Airport Director went even further, using taxpayer funds to hire outside counsel to defend her actions. The outside attorney made it clear that the Airport Director had no appetite to resolve this dispute with the Falcon Warbirds' website up and running.
This is the intimidation and deceit that the Airport Director has been inflicting on this community for far too long. The Falcon Warbirds Foundation decided to fight back, creating a Transparency Gallery Page on our website that contained all of the documents that proved the unjustified lockout.
Despite her efforts, the Airport Director continued to demand that the Falcon Warbirds vacate the small hangars they had been forced to move to during storm repairs. She even claimed that the Foundation had not paid rent, which is completely untrue.
To make matters worse, the Joint Liability Tenant had received free rent for three months and now enjoys significantly discounted hangar rental rates. They also took the Falcon Warbirds' parachutes and left other tools and airplane parts outside in the rain to inflict damage.
It was an unfair and unjust situation, but the Falcon Warbirds were determined to fight for their rights. We are grateful for the support of the community, which has rallied around us to show the Airport Director just how strong we are.
Through this perseverance and dedication, the goal is for Falcon Warbirds Foundation to reclaim their hangar and continue their important work of preserving a piece of history for future generations to enjoy.
