PRESS RELEASE — THE AGENCY FILED A STATE HEARING ON MY BEHALF WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE Overview I requested a State Hearing because Child Support did not provide a resolution within the 30‑day period they mark on their notices. I waited the full 30 days, waited one more day, and when nothing arrived, I filed my own Request for State Hearing. The day after I filed, I received their resolution in the mail. I immediately called the agency to inform them that I had just received their resolution, but that I had already filed for the State Hearing the day before and that it was already processing. The Agency’s Reaction The next day, the same person I informed — who later representedPRESS RELEASE — THE AGENCY FILED A STATE HEARING ON MY BEHALF WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE Overview This statement explains how the Department of Child Support Services moved forward with a State Hearing without informing me, how I discovered it, and why this matters. I am presenting this exactly as it happened, in my own voice, without changing the meaning of what I lived. How the Situation Started I originally requested a State Hearing because Child Support did not provide a resolution within the 30‑day period they mark on their notices. I waited the full 30 days, then waited one more day, and when nothing arrived, I filed my own request for a State Hearing. The day after I filed, I received the resolution in the mail. I immediately called the agency and told them that I had just received their resolution, but that I had already filed for the State Hearing the day before and that it was already processing. The Phone Call With the Agency Representative The next day, the same person I had informed — who later represented the agency at the hearing — called me and asked me why we had to go to the State. I tried to explain the situation, but the conversation began to escalate. I told him that if we continued talking, we were not going to get to a good point. He agreed, and we ended the call. What Came Out During the Hearing During the June 24 hearing, it was revealed that there were two State Hearing requests: • The one I submitted because I did not receive a resolution within the required time. • And one submitted by the agency, on my behalf, without my knowledge. This discovery confirmed exactly what I have been saying for years: the system can take actions in your name without telling you, including enrolling you in benefits or requesting hearings you never asked for. My Position I stand firm on what I have said for the past four years. You chose the wrong one to play. I am Hispanic, proud of my beliefs, respectful of the laws, and I am against the abuse from the system and the abuse to the system — because we all know it goes both ways.
