Fellow Petitioners,
It has been One Year since the world witnessed on live TV the tragic events of J13 (July 13, 2024 MAGA rally at Butler, PA). On this fateful day, the Secret Service's gross negligence in failing to secure the rally site facilitated a 20-year-old student without any formal weapons training to brazenly meander the event with a pair of range finders before scaling a nearby building's unsecured rooftop in broad daylight. With an unobstructed clear line of sight view, this gunman was able to crank off 8 shots from his AR-15 rifle, murdering rally attendee Corey Comperatore, gravely wounding two other rally attendees, and nearly assassinating President Trump before eventually being killed by a USSS Counter sniper's bullet to the head.
One Year since the world witnessed both Director Cheatle's and Acting Director Ron Rowe's humiliating excoriation by the Congressional Oversight Committee regarding their leadership failures that arguably contributed to the Secret Service's failures on J13. . . and threatened with charges of Contempt of Congress following their perjury and cover-up concerning the withholding of Secret Service assets that could have prevented this tragedy.
One Year later, and still no accountability of top-ranking Agency leadership; no criminal charges of anyone for malfeasance that led to loss of life; no terminations; no reforms, and many questions remain unanswered. The only disciplinary action taken were suspensions, ranging from 2 - 6 weeks, that was doled out to six junior to mid-level individuals like sacrificial lambs to appease the Congressional "Gods" jockeying over each other for media sound bites.
Meanwhile. . . following President Trump's inauguration 2.0, and the coronation of Sean Curran to be the next Director, Acting Director Ron Rowe was allowed to stay at home on leave for several months while still on the payroll as a "Senior Advisor" after his announced retirement and he then landed a lucrative post-retirement job with the Chertoff Group. Former Director Kim Cheatle managed to stay out of the spotlight for much of the past year, following her forced resignation in disgrace after being brutally lambasted by the Congressional Oversight Committee which led to countless critical memes on the Internet. Despite her immediate separation from the government, Cheatle was assigned a protective detail, at taxpayer expense, due to concerns for her safety until word leaked out to the media.
And now, word has also been leaked to Senator Ron Johnson's office that the Secret Service had the audacity to begin the process of renewing Cheatle's Top Secret Security Clearance, as a courtesy, despite the fact that she is no longer an employee and left the agency in disgrace a year ago. In typical Secret Service fashion, the agency's crackpot media relations team quickly crafted a word-smithed statement claiming that Cheatle's clearance update application was denied before it got started. But the fact is, Cheatle's periodic security update (aka "PRI") investigation had to have first been approved by the Agency's Security Management Division (SMD), who would not have done so without first getting authorization from senior agency leadership within the Office of the Director (currently Sean Curran) before starting the background investigation which had started several weeks before word was leaked to Senator Johnson's office.
