Demand accountability and apology from Dani Strydom
The Issue
I, along with many others in the Kareedouw community, have had enough of the blatant mistreatment and discriminatory practices carried out by Dani Strydom, the owner of Kareedouw Butchery and OK Grocer franchise. Like many of you, I have witnessed the disrespect shown to black and coloured customers, who are subject to racist remarks such as being told to wash before entering his store. This kind of behavior is not only unacceptable but it is a stain on the values of our community.
In addition to his offensive treatment towards customers, Dani Strydom has been known to sell old meat in his butcher shop—a dangerous practice that jeopardizes the health of our families. Many who have shopped at his store have reported purchasing goods that are past their prime, yet these concerns have been repeatedly ignored. This is not just a question of customer service but also of public health and safety.
Furthermore, the treatment of his employees is equally concerning. Staff members frequently speak out about the long, grueling hours without proper time off, and the low wages that don't match the hard work they put in. Shockingly, many have been dismissed without any contributions being made towards their Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF), leaving them in vulnerable positions without financial security.
The community of Kareedouw is demanding a public apology from Dani Strydom for this appalling conduct. Due to the severity of his actions, we insist on this apology being issued within the next three days. This is a matter of principle and it is about restoring the dignity and respect of every individual who has been wronged.
By signing this petition, you will help us hold Dani Strydom accountable for his actions and send a clear message that such discriminatory behavior and unethical business practices have no place in our community. Your support will not only help fight against racism and workplace exploitation but also enforce the standards that every consumer and employee deserves.
Please sign this petition and help us bring about the change our community desperately needs.
