We thank everyone who has supported the 'People in Pathology' by signing and sharing this Petition. We ask that you please continue to share this petition to your own Social Media networks but also to all of the Facebook Community Groups that you belong to and any local newsrooms. We are trying to reach as many people as the number that have blood test across the National who are being misled by Australian Pathology that is they don't support their "Keep Pathology Bulk Billed" Campaign that the Fedeal Government is taking away funding from the Pathology sector this Federal Budget.
The Truth is that Healius, Sonic and Australian Clinical Labs want more Commonwealth Funds for the same test that are currently covered by Medicare, they have gone as far to say "Stop the Gap Payments", these Gap Payments will be enforced by the above companies to improve their profit.
This is whilst there have been no improvements to the People in Pathology's wages even when the companies were boasting of $500,000 Million dollar profits during the Covid Pandemic. The same workers average hourly rate is $28.00. The "Keep Pathology Bulk Billed" Campaign was conveniently launched prior to 4 on these Pathology Companies starting EBA Negotiations and was the reason they are waring of no decent pay rise.
There is a Skills and Staff Shortage crisis in the sector and the need for a livable wage is vital before this sector faces the same crisis we have seen repeat in other Healthcare Sectors.
After Australia Pathology rejected the invitation to discuss these concerns and collaboratively come to a resolution that will provide solutions to all parties involved, we are now campaigning to gain the support of our colleagues, the referring Doctors. We will be sending an invitation to give out a a5 pamphlet with every blood test referral that they hand out. We have had such a great response from the doctors we have already contacted. We are also hitting the road so we can campaign in person also.
This will cost our NFP company quite considerably for the marketing material, postage and travel. We are looking for financial support from those who can afford it in this day of cost-of-living crisis and would be grateful if anyone knows of a Philanthropist who would be interested in supporting an industry of undervalued healthcare heroes, to pass this information onto them.
