Blue Wave Actions to Demand Universal Healthcare

Thanks to everyone who contributed to making the Blue Tsunami that swept the USA yesterday, and brought so many of us renewed hope and joy!
Over the past 3 years or so since I started this petition, we have gotten around 9,000 signatures! Now is the time to use this petition as an instrument to amplify our voices in our Demand for real change! The alternative to change is to continue to watch more Americans priced out of care and become sicker or die!
Here are letters that need writing to the new blues in the USCongress, My next update will include a letter to two old ones that need a cattle- prod to the rump!
Here are three tailored persuasive letters designed to advocate for universal healthcare and Medicare for All. Each letter addresses a distinct political stance among incoming newly elected Democratic U.S. Senators and Representatives.
Letter 1: To Cosponsors & Stanch Supporters
Target: Newly elected lawmakers who campaigned explicitly on single-payer universal healthcare and Medicare for All.
Subject: Thank you for your leadership & next steps: Co-sponsoring Medicare for All in 2027
Dear [Senator / Representative Last Name],
First, congratulations on your election to the United States Congress. We are immensely grateful for your principled campaign and your steadfast commitment to guaranteeing healthcare as a human right for every person in our nation.
For decades, millions of families have suffered under a fragmented, profit-driven healthcare system that leaves tens of millions uninsured or underinsured. Your victory signals a clear mandate from your constituents: it is time to prioritize people over insurance corporate profits.
As you prepare for the legislative session in 2027, we urge you to take immediate, bold action:
- Sign on as an Original Cosponsor: Join Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal and Senator Bernie Sanders as an original cosponsor of the Medicare for All Act upon its reintroduction in 2027.
- Collaborate on Strategy: Reach out to the offices of Rep. Jayapal and Sen. Sanders early to coordinate legislative strategy, caucus building, and public advocacy.
- Champion the Fiscal & Human Benefits: Speak out on how single-payer healthcare saves lives—an estimated 68,000 annually—and eliminates crushing premiums, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses for working families.
Thank you for being the leader our communities need. We stand ready to support your efforts on Capitol Hill and back home in your district.
In solidarity,
[Your Name / Organization Name] [Contact Information / District]
Letter 2: To Moderate & Hard-to-Convince Lawmakers
Target: Newly elected lawmakers in swing or conservative-leaning districts who are skeptical of single-payer systems or favor market-based solutions.
Subject: Healthcare policy that protects working families and district businesses
Dear [Senator / Representative Last Name],
Congratulations on your election victory. As you prepare to represent our community in Washington, we know that delivering economic security, lower costs, and practical solutions for your constituents is your top priority.
One of the largest financial burdens facing families and small business owners in our district today is the unsustainable cost of healthcare. Rising insurance premiums, high deductibles, and surprise medical bills act as a direct tax on working people and handicap our local businesses trying to offer competitive benefits.
While single-payer healthcare is often framed through a partisan lens, the economic reality of the Medicare for All Act offers pragmatic benefits that align directly with fiscal responsibility:
- Massive Cost Savings: Independent economic analyses, including studies by the Congressional Budget Office, show that a single-payer system reduces administrative waste and overall national healthcare spending by hundreds of billions of dollars annually.
- Relief for Local Employers: Unlinking healthcare from employment frees small businesses from managing complex, expensive health insurance plans, allowing them to reinvest capital directly into higher wages and growth.
- Freedom of Choice: Under Medicare for All, patients retain total freedom to choose their own doctors and hospitals—ending restrictive provider networks dictated by private insurance companies.
As Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal and Senator Bernie Sanders prepare to reintroduce the Medicare for All Act in 2027, we respectfully ask you to take a meeting with their policy teams. We ask that you evaluate the bill’s economic impact with an open mind and consider joining as a cosponsor.
Thank you for your leadership and dedication to the economic well-being of our district.
Sincerely,
[Your Name / Organization Name] [Contact Information / District]
Letter 3: To "Incremental Reform" & Adjacent-Language Lawmakers
Target: Lawmakers who ran on phrases like "healthcare is a right," "universal coverage," or "expanding the public option," but have stopped short of backing full single-payer Medicare for All.
Subject: Moving from universal coverage promises to real healthcare security in 2027
Dear [Senator / Representative Last Name],
Congratulations on your election to Congress. Throughout your campaign, your message that "every American deserves access to affordable healthcare" resonated deeply with voters across our community.
We write to you today because we share that exact vision—and because achieving true universal healthcare requires structural reform, not incremental patches.
While proposals like public options or expanded subsidies aim to improve access, they continue to leave millions at the mercy of private insurance companies that profit by denying care and imposing high out-of-pocket costs. A system that leaves care tied to employment or insurance status will always leave our neighbors vulnerable.
The Medicare for All Act, led by Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal and Senator Bernie Sanders, is the only legislation that fully realizes the promise of health care as a human right:
- Guaranteed, Comprehensive Coverage: It covers all medically necessary care—including primary, vision, dental, mental health, and prescription drugs—without copays or deductibles at the point of service.
- Complete Universal Access: It ensures no American falls through the cracks, loses coverage when changing jobs, or faces medical bankruptcy.
As you take office, we urge you to bridge the gap between campaign principles and legislative reality. Please meet with Rep. Jayapal and Sen. Sanders' offices ahead of the 2027 reintroduction and sign on as a co-sponsor to deliver the complete healthcare security your constituents deserve.
Thank you for your leadership and commitment to serving our community.
Warm regards,
