Petition update

1,000+ Signatures in 2 Weeks! Email John Sisson!

David Curtis
Wilmington, DE, United States

Jul 25, 2014 — Excellent work! We've topped 1,000 signatures in just two weeks! Share this petition with friends and family, or tell them to visit

DART CEO John Sisson is fully aware of the petition. He says a few mid-day trains that probably can't be connected *right now* because of conflicts with Amtrak. What he doesn't say is that all other trains can be extended *immediately* for as little as $150,000. He expresses doubt that ridership will increase if frequencies improve (despite every study in the history of rail transportation indicating that ridership increases with frequency). Finally, he says that DART is "evaluating the possibility of adding additional rail service to Delaware" in 2016. That's simply not good enough.

Please email Mr. Sisson (, his boss, DelDOT Secretary Shailen Bhatt (, and Governor Markell ( to tell them that you want better service to Wilmington NOW. Please feel free to use the text below:

Infrequent SEPTA service in Wilmington is a major inconvenience and frustration for me and thousands of others. It hinders economic development in Wilmington, it makes life difficult for people who depend on the service for primary mobility, and it forces many others to drive on our crumbling road and highway infrastructure.

A great majority of SEPTA trains can be extended to Wilmington at very little cost. Please identify these trains and work with SEPTA to implement this service upgrade immediately. The ridership levels are there. The cost is minimal. The urgency is real. We cannot afford to wait until 2016.
