Update from the Civic Engagement Team

Hello Petition Supporters,

My name is Alexandra, and I'm on the Civic Engagement team at Change.org. Our team works to connect petition starters and supporters with the public officials who have the power to act on the issues you care about. 

I spoke with Evansville City Council Member Courtney Johnson regarding this petition calling on Evansville and Vanderburgh County to divest from Clearview AI.

Johnson shared that the best venue to raise this issue is during a City Council meeting, where councilmembers can hear directly from residents, ask questions, and better understand the concerns being raised. He noted that this is not an issue the City Council has previously discussed, to their recollection, and that councilmembers may not yet be familiar with the topic.

Bringing this forward during a public meeting would allow for a more complete discussion and give supporters the opportunity to explain the issue and why they believe action is needed.
