Maribyrnong Urban Forest Community Consultation Ends in September
Unfortunately, Maribyrnong Council has not instituted a default diameter permit system nor tree bonds. Nor has it allocated funds for a comprehensive arborist report on trees in the Maribyrnong area. It is in the process of developing an urban forest strategy and asking for feedback. Apparently this began in June and ends in September, so go to the link below to complete the survey. There is space for comments after the survey, so maybe these points could be mentioned.

There is a significant tree register nomination process open until November, but unfortunately nominator's don't know whether the trees they think are significant have already been nominated. This is a very inefficient way to manage the nominations, but better than nothing.
The previous list is on line, so this may be a good place to begin to see if trees you are thinking of were on this list.

The council also has a link on the bottom left of its home page to which you can subscribe to be informed as community consultations happen. I missed the last council meeting (confused 6pm on the 28th for 8 pm on the 26th) but I am disappointed that a "community consultation on social media" did not manage to find this page, my email or the emails of the people who were involved in the protest against the demolition of the oak tree.
