This week, Australia will observe its first ever Medicinal Cannabis Awareness Week. Eight years ago this week, my beautiful son Dan passed away after a long battle with cancer. It was the difficulty in sourcing cannabis to help ease his suffering that launched our campaign to help get patients like Dan access to medicinal cannabis.
A new Parliamentary Friends of Medicinal Cannabis Group (PFMCG) has formed in Canberra, co-convened by Labor senator Anne Urquhart and Liberal MP Warren Entsch.
A year after Dan’s death, medicinal cannabis was legalised. Yet, most people are still unaware about the legalisation. The issues around excessive costs to patients, outdated and discriminatory driving laws, patients losing their livelihoods because of legally prescribed continue.
A total of 31 MPs have signed up, including Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care Ged Kearney, One Nation leader Pauline Hanson and Greens Senator and Justice spokesperson David Shoebridge.
We need more representatives speaking up and taking this campaign forward. Can you help?
Thank you for your continued support.
