Despite what the polls were saying, the Coalition with PM Scott Morrison has been returned to government. We don't yet know who the health minister will be, nor do we know whether the 46th Parliament will commit to fixing the medicinal cannabis system in this country.
We do know that thanks to your support, we had election promises from Labor and The Greens. We're getting there, and we look forward to taking this campaign to Canberra once again to fight for real patient access to medicinal cannabis.
One way we're getting there is through this incredible documentary, High as Mike. High As Mike is the feature-length documentary that follows Mike, a long-distance cyclist from Tamworth NSW. Learning about the endo-cannabinoid system and the science behind medical cannabis, he soon finds out about the pressures facing patients, doctors and suppliers since the roll-out of the 2016 legislation.
High As Mike searches for the answers from both sides of the medical cannabis debate right across the country, meeting families who have gone on their own cannabis treatment journeys, black market suppliers, legal farms, politicians, doctors and lawyers. It features Australian icon Olivia Newton-John, with music from the one and only Tex Perkins. Tex and Silverchair's Daniel Johns will even perform this Monday at the Sydney media premiere.
We want all of Australia to see this doco, including politicians in Canberra. Click here to find out about screenings in Sydney, Melbourne, Tamworth and Brisbane and click here to learn how to arrange a screening in your town and city.
I won't stop until we #FixDansLaw, and I thank you all for being with me on this journey.
Lucy Haslam.
