A statement from Lucy Haslam, Chair of United in Compassion: On behalf of Dan and all those sufferers of conditions that we believe will be assisted with medicinal cannabis I would like to thank our many thousands of supporters and all our politicians for moving ahead with this reform. There is still a lot of work to do to ensure we develop a truly effective compassionate access scheme ‐ but we have come a long way. Over the last few years I have been deeply privileged to work with many patients and patient advocates to make their voices heard by government, and I am pleased that we have achieved cross party support for reform. In particular, I want to thank NSW Premier Mike Baird, both for his support for Dan and for our cause. And also Dr Richard Di Natale and his team who have worked with great commitment for reform. And I want to congratulate Minister Ley and her Opposition counterpart, Catherine King, for their close interest and support, as well as many of the other politicians in Federal Parliament and at the State level who have seen this important opportunity for significant health reform on behalf of their constituents. I sincerely hope that another legacy of Dan's life will be an increased sense of cooperation between our policy makers where there is sensible reform to be made...
