We came together and spoke with one voice. In less than 48 hours, over 1,200 community members signed this petition urging the PAUSD School Board not to renew Don Austin’s contract.

They didn’t listen.

At tonight’s board meeting, only Trustee Rowena Chiu stood with us. The other four board members — Shana Segal, Shounak Dharap, Josh Salcman, and Alison Kamhi voted 4–1 to extend Don Austin’s contract for another four years. They disregarded the overwhelming concerns of the families, students, and educators they were elected to represent.

This vote makes one thing clear:
We need a board that puts students, families, and transparency first — not Don Austin.

We cannot wait for the next election to bring change. Santa Clara County allows recall elections to remove elected officials who fail their constituents.
