Dear friends and family who supported this petition,

As we come to close this exercise, just a small reminder that our religious celebrations give us opportunities to culturally integrate and know of one another. 
Though the Hindi occasion of Diwali didn’t not get the public holiday recognition, I know that Indian businesses practise their rituals in unison with their suppliers, workers and all. Some businesses closed at half day while some went on. Families came together to celebrate the actions of good vs evil. 
So thank you to all who signed the petition. Over 1,500 of you signed and it was a good gesture of a beginning that may one day see a holiday on Diwali . I am truly thankful to all of you.

Hon. Esther Pasaris, Woman Rep Nairobi County supported our request amongst many other dignitaries including friends from the inter faith council.
