JOIN US for a press conference, rally and day of action, education, and mobilization as we uplift TRUE SOLUTIONS to the city’s homeless crisis - ones that create homes and end the failed policy of enforcement of non-violent, quality-of-life crimes that simply punish homeless people for being poor. We will also be highlighting the dozens and potentially hundreds of vacant or underutilized public properties - like the Westminster Senior Center - that could be activated TODAY for housing and homeless services! In LA, the City spends at least $87 MILLION a year to police, cite, arrest homeless people. That is $87 MILLION that could and should be going to build housing. Laws and enforcement that make illegal things like sitting, resting, sleeping in legally parked cars, & sharing food do nothing to get folks off the street and in a home. The City should also be spending all new money on permanent housing and utilize already existing public buildings and land to meet the ongoing emergency needs of homeless individuals.
