Make Fordson High School a part of Dearborn Unified

Fordson High School is currently not able to recruit any of their students to the Dearborn Unified hockey team, which consists of both Dearborn High & Edsel Ford. There is no reason any student should be denied the opportunity to play a sport, especially when he or she is a member of the same school district.
My son has been playing hockey for 10 years and is no longer eligible to play with his private hockey team as he has reached the age limit. One of his teammates has joined Dearborn Unified as a student of Dearborn High. However, my son (previously a captain on the team) cannot join and continue to play hockey because he goes to Fordson.
Worse, both Livonia High School and Novi High School offered my son, whom is not a student in their school, a position on their respective high school teams. I have spent over a year reaching out to countless members of Dearborn education administration to no avail.
What a shameful day in Dearborn education when other school districts are more concerned with OUR students’ futures than we.
Please sign this petition to tell Dearborn public school district that excluding an entire high school from participating in a districtwide hockey team is unfair and prevents our children from growing and reaching their full potential.
