Change the Nursing School Admissions to how they originally were

Change the Nursing School Admissions to how they originally were
The Issue
The Dean took into account the struggling students that were already in the Nursing program because of their struggle during the Summer semester; however, he took no time to consider those who are willing to go the distance to succeed during the Summer semester. These changes include:
-accepting half the number of people for both the Fall and Spring cohorts, which drastically decreases the chance of getting in for each student
-Students that were told they had a chance of being accepted, are now basically being told to find a plan B.
-They are now allowing acceptances for Summer 2019; however, that would require a year off school.
For most students that are pre-nursing students, these changes have dramatically affected them. Why? Because most of the pre-nursing students chose where they wanted to go to college based on the college's nursing program. A lot of pre-nursing students are out of state, which means they are paying a ton of money to attend a school so they can get into the nursing program of their dreams. The Dean just recently made these changes after all of the pre-nursing students applied; this means, we are just now hearing the news after already submitting applications. If we knew about these changes before, we would've saved our money and time and went to a school in our state to save money and to a school that we knew we had a chance to get into the nursing program. These new changes are causing people to have to apply to other schools for nursing programs, after already investing 2 years into Auburn University.
The intention of this petition was never to complain about the competitiveness or rigor of Auburn's nursing program; Rather, to bring attention to the sudden changes made. Students had already begun applying to Auburn's nursing school before being notified of the changes; therefore, there was a lack of communication between administration and students, as well as administration and the public.
Potential Solutions:
1. Implement these changes for incoming pre-nursing students.
2. Grandfather in students for this application cycle.
3. Better the communication of the administrative office with pre-nursing and nursing students.
Thank you for your time and support. Together, we can make a difference. War Eagle!!
