Update: Media + Legal Action

Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for your support - as I’m writing this, we’re at exactly 44,444 signatures! Wanted to write an update as there has been some movement with this... 

Despite backing from some MP’s, petition features in the media (including BBC Newsround and The Independent!), and many people writing to their MPs, the Government did not act on their duty to ensure that every child can access their education when schools returned around 2 weeks ago. We are hoping that this petition will influence the Government’s review of the guidance regarding face masks in schools over Easter. 

In the meantime, the National Deaf Children’s Society has taken legal steps against the Department for Education in England to ensure that deaf children do not continue to be disadvantaged in schools due to face masks. You can read their blog post here, and this was also featured in The Telegraph.
