Make College Affordable for DCPS Graduates Planning to Attend College

Make College Affordable for DCPS Graduates Planning to Attend College

The Issue

Currently, there is no state college for District of Columbia High School Graduates to attend. State Colleges provide many benefits that they do not receive as out of state students, such as cheaper tuition. There was a program developed called DCTAG that works to help with this issue. Through the program, the District of Columbia has agreed to pay the difference between in state and out of state tuition at public colleges UP TO $10,000 per year (and a mere $2,500 for students attending private colleges). However, the difference is often more than $10,000, leaving many families swamped in debt. Support our goal to help make college affordable for everyone and just the first step is providing more money for high school students planning to attend college.

Please support this petition if you believe that DCTAG should cover the complete difference between in state and out of state tuition, even if it exceeds $10,000.
