Because most of Davistown’s Wetlands are in private ownership, council. nor other community groups can have access to do weeding, to build boardwalks, or to conduct inspections - without permission from the owners.
it is currently not possible to apply for any grant funding (from either Local, State or Federal Governments) to look after any of the eight parcels that have recently been advertised again for sale in Davistown.
The current zoning of the Wetlands allows for one house only to be built per land parcel, and a range of other uses such as plant growing nurseries and caravan parking etc
It is our understanding that the zoning on almost all Wetland parcels is still listed as “deferred matters”.
