Proposed amendment to the Rondeau Provincial Park Management Plan

The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks invites your comments on a proposal to amend the Rondeau Provincial Park Management Plan (the Plan) to enable the extension of existing leases for cottage lots in Rondeau Provincial Park for an additional two years, until December 31, 2024.
Rondeau is a 3,254-hectare, natural environment class provincial park established in 1894. It is located on the shore of Lake Erie, approximately 40 kilometres southeast of Chatham, and is surrounded by the Municipality of Chatham-Kent. The provincial park protects significant natural and cultural values and offers exceptional recreational and heritage appreciation opportunities.
Cottage lot leases/licenses were originally established in Rondeau Provincial Park between 1894 and 1950. There are 278 cottage lots under lease/license for private non commercial use.
What is being proposed:
We are seeking comments on a proposal to amend the Plan to enable the extension of the existing leases/licenses for cottage lots in Rondeau Provincial Park to December 31, 2024.
This extension would allow the ministry time to consult on a future option for the continued leasing of cottage lots in Rondeau Provincial Park.

The proposal notice for the management plan amendments is posted on the Environmental Registry of Ontario at ero.ontario.ca (notice 019-6142). Your comments on the management plan amendment can be submitted online or to the address below.
You are invited to comment on this proposal and will have thirty (30) days in which to do
so. Comments will be accepted from October 25, 2022, to November 25, 2022.
