PLEASE SAFEGUARD ILF FUNDING IN 2015 AND ONWARDS
The Issue
Almost 19000 severely disabled people in the UK are currently receiving Independent Living Funding from the Government. The money is used to allow these adults to live full, active and independent lives. It gives them the ability to live in the community and make their own choices.
The Government are going to go against a High Court ruling and pass the money to cash strapped Councils without it being ring fenced, therefore allowing these Councils to use it for whatever they need. Unless this funding is protected, there is a good chance that it won't be given to the people that rely on it today. This would mean a dramatic reduction in their quality of life and risk of them being imprisoned in their home or put into residential care. It is essential that this money continues to help the severely disabled people from now through 2015 and beyond. How are you going to ensure that this money is targeted to help the people that receive it today?
