Hi all, I would like if I may provide you with a brief update. On the 20th June I marched alongside a quarter of a million people to Parliament Square on the anti-austerity campaign. We can never give in and need to remember there is still so much support out there. On Monday there was a Work and Pensions session in Parliament, it was truly heart breaking to watch. The Mirror contacted me for my response which is below: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/benefit-cuts-diabetic-victims-sister-5948476. We still await the Government’s response to the DWP Select Committee's critical recommendations, and will update you as I hear about any developments. There is a related sanction petition on Change.org which you may wish to add your support if you have not done so already: https://www.change.org/p/hm-courts-and-tribunal-service-publish-stats-showing-how-many-people-have-died-after-their-benefits-stopped?utm_source=action We live in a democracy and have a right to know how many people have died under any circumstances, let alone under a system created by the government that cuts off peoples' income. Any death which occurs during a sanction period should be acknowledged, recorded and independently investigated as would be the case if a death occurred under any other circumstances. Last night I had the honour of attending the opening of the exhibition of the works of Mark Wood. Mark died around the same time as my brother David, and I have been in contact with his family over the past year. He was such a talented young man. This is his story: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/disabled-mark-wood-starved-death-3194250 The details of the exhibition are: http://www.oxfordshiremind.org.uk/events/the-spirit-of-nature-exhibition-of-work-by-mark-wood/ I want to thank you for all deeply for your heartfelt comments and personal emails over the campaign. Your commitment and support is of immense value to me and others and will help make a difference in these very testing times, giving comfort and hope to those still suffering, and we must never give up. If you wish to write to contact me direct please do so at gill.a4u@outlook.com My deepest thanks once again to you all, and do please keep in touch. Gill
