After years of decline, neglect and closure, on 9 September 2008, a fire tore through Fleetwood Pier and since then many local residents mourned the loss of a much-loved iconic landmark of the town, now plans are underway by Fleetwood Plus CIC, who are on a mission to develop a community led project to bring a local treasure back to life; redeveloping the site as a sustainable, flexible structure able to accommodate a diverse range uses. 

Britain's seaside piers remain as popular as ever, with millions of people visiting them each year but they are under constant threats from exposure to the sea and weather not to mention the real challenge of meeting the high financial costs of upkeep and insurance. 

A great deal of hard work, enormous local, regional and national support and guidance will be sought, this coupled with sponsorship deals, investment, large scale development funding and community fundraising will enable this project to take shape 

From the beginning we will give the people of Fleetwood the lead in the redevelopment of, 'their People's Pier'! 

This project is ambitious yes but has masses of potential for creating jobs, increasing visitor footfall thus boosting the local economy and ultimately giving the people of Fleetwood a focal point that it can be proud of. We believe that however ambitious this may appear if the community buy into it then it will be entirely viable, it will give the town a fabulous new lease of life. 

Initially funds need to be raised in order that the Pier site can be transferred to Fleetwood Plus CIC and the community it serves. We require £1 Million pound to secure the site and cover all Legal, Health & Safety, Architects, Insurance fees etc. in order to push the development forward - and we feel that some money should be thrown this way (UP NORTH) to help our little market town and former thriving fishing port of Fleetwood get back on its feet and become a seaside resort.
