City Council of Davenport Iowa, 

In addition to our petition we are documenting blight concerns first in the Hamburg Historic district and then throughout the city of Davenport. We find it incredibly frustrating that we are fixing up our home at 418 W 7TH ST and just a block over there are abandoned/vacant major nuisance properties which creates major concerns and BLIGHT. 

Something else is going on here and it could involve the CITY of Davenport staff and local politicians.

Update the historic preservation (HP) ordinance and commission and create guidelines. Become a positive historic preservation city and community like Madison County Iowa.

Davenport brags at having the highest number of historic properties in the state yet the city is punishing responsible homeowners versus taking care of blight. This story is backwards and needs to be changed.
