Keep Our Cats Safe

0 have signed. Let’s get to 5,000!

We are demanding Central Coast Council overturn their decision to deny cats and kittens of the Central Coast a safe haven in local pounds. Our local pounds are both run by rescue groups and are low kill and people will now have no option other than dumping cats or surrendering them to the high kill RSPCA.

As tax payers whose money goes towards maintaining these facilities and the registration of cats as companion animals, we request the services of surrendering and impounding kittens and cats be upheld.

Additional reasons as to why Council should maintain their responsibility to the community:

• Our local rescue groups will not be able to support the expectation that they take in stray/injured/lost cats, which is our councils responsibility (our biggest rescue has already had to stop taking in animals as there are just too many)

• Good willing people of the community will stop helping infant kittens, injured cats or lost cats because they know the support will not be there to take them to a low kill facility. This will result in more cats and kittens, especially when there is not mandatory desexing or TNR programs in place.

• The pound has ALWAYS taken in surrenders/strays as per the Companion Animals Act so why has this changed?

• With the reduction of impounding facilities, this will impact the native wildlife due to the increased
population of stray and/or abandoned animals.

Please sign to ensure the cats and kittens of the Central Coast, and it’s community members, are provided with the impounding facilities that are desperately needed.
