Joshua Thompson and Amber Hinton UAH SGA

I started this petition 2 years ago in hopes of making a change in the university parking policies.  This petition ended up starting a parking committee on SGA that I worked on a co-chaired with Matt who was the SGA president at the time.  This also awarded us a meeting with administration to talk about issues regarding parking.  Though we fell short of our goal we still got to voice students concerns to the administration.  I’m updating everyone now to let you know I am running for SGA president along with Amber Hinton as my running mate.  We have been working to better the school since we’ve been students here and we want to continue that through SGA to give us a larger platform to communicate with the administration.  Our campaign platform is Tradition, communication, and collaboration.  We want to make UAH a more “traditional” campus by increasing student life involvement.  We will do this by pushing for, and funding a homecoming concert, more student involved homecoming events, and more alumni involvement.  We will also be revamping how we fund RSO’s on campus to make sure all RSO’s who want funding can receive it without having to jump through too many hoops.  SGA has a large budget every year that is has trouble spending.  Amber and I will ensure the SGA budget is properly utilized and goes toward increasing students qualify of life and experience on campus.  Amber and I also want to increase communication between the administration and the student body.  SGA should be the liaison between the students and administration, and from my experience working closely with administration on UAHPD reform, ODEI, and NAACP the administration WANTS to hear from its students.  SGA just hasn’t been able to use it’s voice correctly and me and Amber will ensure all students concerns are given to the university.  We will also make sure students are properly updated on what the administration has going on as well.  We will hold weekly/biweekly Instagram Lives, Instagram post, Reddit post, Etc… to ensure all students know what is going on with their student government and with their administration.  We also will collaboration with Greek life and RSO’s more.  We want to ensure all student organizations have the proper funding, resources, and press they need in order to succeed.  This is just a summary of our agenda but if you want to learn more or have a conversation please feel free to reach out to us!  Follow our Instagram @jandaforuah.SGA.
