The NHS is currently undergoing dramatic changes. Nationally the NHS is expected to generate £20 billion worth of savings over the next two years, which is leading to service cuts and privatisation of health care.

Locally staffing shortages mean longer waiting times at the A&E department in NGH and Kettering General Hospitals. Rationing of health care is occurring too, as GPs now are required to apply for formal approval before they refer patients for treatment for certain procedures.  The Clinical Commissioning Group, whose duty it is to manage the county’s NHS budget, is in ‘financial recovery’ which could lead to reduction and privatisation of health services.

Therefore we are asking you to sign this petition so that we can let the local NHS authorities know that we expect timely, quality public provided health care. Therefore, we are circulating a petition and asking you to sign so that we can let the local NHS authorities know that we expect timely, quality public provided health care.

We call for the following:
In line with the Care Quality Commission report on Northampton General Hospital that staffing levels at NGH be improved, systematic steps be taken to tackle low staff morale and all necessary measures to be taken to improve patient care.

Following on from the Francis Report, staff who disclose irregularities in medical practice not be victimised, and that hospital managers be fully transparent about and accountable for the delivery of health care.

An appropriate investment in front-line health care provided by GPs and community health professionals which would enable patients to secure timely appointments. Locally surgeries are reporting GP vacancies and a  difficulty in recruitment because of excessive workloads.

Special measures be taken to address the years of cuts to mental health services which have resulted in higher levels of mental health problems, including depression and suicides.

Investment in the ambulance services to enable them to meet performance standards and provide timely and sensitive care to patients
