Female genital mutilation or cutting (FGM/C) is a dangerous practice that leaves many girls permanently scarred, physically and mentally.  Potential problems include formation of scar tissue, cysts, difficult urination, abscesses and ulcers, painful intercourse, and infertility.  FGM/C is a form of violence and abuse toward girls and women, and a way of suppression and control.  FGM/C has no place in Connecticut (or anywhere in America for that matter), no excuses!
