Daniel Smith 

As you all know. Our son, Daniel Smith was just 27 years old when he  was hit and killed by a drunk driver who fled the scene on August 19, 2023. The driver who hit him had had two previous OVI'S that they let her plead down to physical control (2018, 2022) and she was on probation the night she hit and killed Daniel. They , yet again, let her take a plea.deal against our wishes and she only  got 4.75 years and has the chance of getting out early. This is not a severe enough punishment under the circumstances. The laws are way to lenient on these types of crimes. Our hope is to get this law passed and the justice system takes crimes like these more serious.We are so very grateful for the love and support everyone has shown Daniel and our family. We have started a petition in Daniel's name to make the punishment for these crimes harsher. We currently have 2269 signatures. And our petition is in the hands of our state representative in Washington DC. Please keep signing and sharing this petition so we can make our voices heard and change the laws.
