Anyone worried about children becoming vegans for the wrong reasons?
Yes as a nation we eat too much meat and we should not feed grain to animals that could feed humans instead. Or have low animal welfare factory farms.
BUT. Did you know that 70% of the earth's agricultural land is marginal and cannot grow crops? To feed the world this land should be grazed by ruminants (cattle, sheep) to produce protein for humans and manure to improve the soil.
Even in the the UK 60% of our land cannot be cropped (lake district, hill farms, highlands, forests, marshes, moors). If you do see animals on prime land they are probably part of a mixed sustainable farm and part of a crop rotation to regenerate soils.
Please watch the poor quality, but brilliant video, and yet another reason why food should be on the curriculum!
