On May 5th 2016, Dafydd Elis-Thomas was elected as the Plaid Cymru Assembly Member for Dwyfor Meirionnydd. Despite multiple disagreements with his party, they allowed him to stand. He was elected through the hard work and financial resources of Plaid Cymru's local activists. Without their support and without standing under the banner of Plaid Cymru, Dafydd Elis-Thomas would not have won his seat. 

Dafydd Elis-Thomas has every right to dispute this. That's why we call on him to resign, call a by-election and stand again on any ticket he sees fit. The electorate of Dwyfor Meirionnydd deserve the opportunity to voice their opinions on this through the ballot box.

Ar Fai'r 5ed 2016 ennillodd Dafydd Elis-Thomas sedd Dwyfor Meirionnydd dros Plaid Cymru. Er iddo anghytuno a'i blaid sawl gwaith, cafodd y gyfle i sefyll gan iddo addo fod yn ffyddiog i Blaid Cymru. Cafodd ei ethol trwy gwaith caled ac arian ei aelodau lleol. Heb eu cefnogaeth nhw a heb sefyll dan enw Plaid Cymru, ni fysai wedi ennill ei sedd. 

Mae gan Dafydd Elis-Thomas bob hawl i anghytuno a'r asesiad yma. Dyna pam rydym yn galw arno i ymddiswyddo a sefyll eto mewn is-etholiad ar unrhyw blatfform dymuna. Mae gan etholwyr Dwyfor Meirionnydd yr hawl i cael eu dweud eto trwy'r blwch pleidleisio.
