My carrer went to a "building a new MET for London" event last week...

It was a major event, about 1600+ in attendance Headed up by Dep Asst Helen Milichip plus Detective Chief Super Clair Kelland, our local Commander who has been with the force 34 years…
"They recognise their mistakes and want to reset their principles, More Trust, Less Crime, High Standards" quoted Founder Robert Peel to reconnect with the community as they are part of the community etc
Each table at the do had a questionnaire, to suggest improvements etc …. In summary they are determined to create a new image and this is ongoing.....
Needless to say, we then followed up with an email...
"I was extremely disappointed to hear from those who were present that nothing in the presentation dealt with the two questions I raised, nor even was any statement made about how senior officers can enforce new approaches to restore public confidence when they appear to have no system in place to discipline or retrain, let alone control, officers who fail to change their ways.
PACE is meant to be the law, the police are meant to enforce the law, and yet its provisions are treated with disdain by police officers, and no member of the force cares, yet alone tries to put right, the wrongs that are done in the name of the police."
