Will the University of Colorado get approval to bulldoze the proposed Meadowlark Open Space located immediately south of Boulder? Wear a white shirt or hat and join us at the Boulder Open Space Board of Trustees Hearing Weds July 11, 6pm at Boulder City Council Chambers to help decide whether CU will be able to bulldoze the proposed open space. Will CU be allowed to build 1,000 apartments and condos in a key wetland area to increase profits and University stature? We propose that CU build new structures on their vast existing parking lots and use underground parking. This will allow us to preserve the rich diversity of songbirds, rare butterflies and endangered plants and animals that call the Meadowlark Open Space home. At this hearing we can encourage the Open Space Trustees to protect the open space and add modest flood control structures that will better protect the Boulder communities downstream than high risk dams that have the potential to fail and engulf homes below. If you can help by attending, together we can create a win for the people of Boulder and this wild and beautiful space. We will call on the trustees and City to study a flood control option that supports full protection of the proposed Meadowlark Open Space. It is wrong that Boulder City Council is not helping at least study protection of this area.
