To generate more revenue, the University of Colorado wants to bulldoze the proposed South Boulder Open Space and construct a massive 30,000 person expansion campus, with stadiums, apartments and tall commercial buildings. You help us create the new South Boulder Open Space and Wildlife Preserve that will protect rare songbirds, endangered species and animals like moose, black bear to survive in the Boulder area. Let's stop the University of Colorado bulldozers from rolling over the nests of rare songbirds We need you this Monday, April 3rd at the BVCP-CU South Open House! Monday, April 3rd 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. 4001 Discovery Dr. CU East Campus SEEC (Colorado & Foothills pkwy) Auditorium C120 The City of Boulder is hosting this public meeting as part of the Boulder Valley Comprehensive Plan review process. Land-use changes at the CU-South property will be a major focus. Staff are expected to share details about changing the current land-use designations for CU South to “Public,” which would pave the way for major development. Note: a “Public” designation does NOT mean that current passive recreation activities would continue. If housing, stadiums, and a 30,000 person campus are built on the site, public access would almost certainly be curtailed significantly. The South Boulder Open Space offers wonderful wildlife habitat and recreational opportunities like hiking, cycling and bird watching for the community. This will be lost if the City annexes this land for development. We can stop the University of Colorado from bulldozing this critically important proposed open space. The City of Boulder is misleading the public and refuses to provide specific develop plans even as they fight to strip open space designation from the proposed Wildlife Preserve and annex it be part of the city prior to development. 1) Please attend this critical Monday April 3, 2017 meeting at 6pm. Tell City staff and on the comment forms that the destruction of the South Boulder open space is not acceptable and that you will fight City Council at every step of the way. 2) Click here to Sign the Change.org petition to help Create CU South Open Space and Wildlife Preserve!
