Needless to say Myxomatosis is still the one of the biggest killers of not just the wild rabbits but our domestic rabbits too. There are meat breeders who are still losing their livelihood, and some have just had to shut up shop and walk away. Over the past few months even more pet rabbits have been dying from this terrible virus, and every time it rears up it seems to have mutated in to an even stronger virus. Even as I am writing this update there is a young member on my Myxomatosis Vaccine Petition Face book group who has already lost two pet bunnies to Myxomatosis over the past few days, and is sadly holding another bunny that is going to succumb to this atrocious virus very soon, the poor girl to be in a position like that. It is soul destroying. Would you take your pet to be euthanised now, or try and spend some lasting time with him? What a difficult decision to make. The Myxomatosis virus will continue to kill our domestic bunnies until we can get a Myxomatosis vaccine, and the trouble is every time there is an outbreak it gets worse and worse. Some of the rabbits that are catching Myxomatosis are fine in the morning and have died by the end of the day. This is what happened to another member on the Myxomatosis Vaccine Petition Face book group. Rabbit after rabbit was lost just like that, and these rabbits were members of the family. It is so distressing especially when there are young children involved. I could go on telling you heartbreaking stories like these because there are hundreds of them, but what we really need is for you to do is sign the on line petition and to join my Face book group so you can sign the paper petition too. All these rabbits are people’s family pets and most of them are house bunnies, just like cats and dogs are, but cats and dogs have a vaccines for cat and dog diseases, and there are no toxic viruses the government spread to kill them.
