Popular dog breeds such as pugs and bulldogs are renowned for their cute exterior but the long-winded list of health problems they carry are usually ignored. The term 'brachycephalic' means having a relatively broad, short skull, which all of these dogs possess. Due to this, dogs are silently suffering with pathological breathing, eye and skin conditions. Unfortunately, these health issues are entirely man-made as they are genetically modified to follow a certain aesthetic. This petition is part of a campaign to pressure government law to affirm legislation against the selective breeding of brachycephalic dogs, fronting breeders who knowingly produce unhealthy breeds with prosecution.
