The Crown Estate plans to raise and shoot pheasants within Windsor Forest, (part of the Windsor Great Park, situated between Windsor and Ascot) thus fencing off huge tracts and denying access to local key-holder residents for walking.

These works are directly threatening the rare and endangered species living in this area – which is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Area of Conservation under EU law.

Natural England has refused consent for this enterprise but the Crown Estate Syndicate have continued to build huge fenced pens despite this – basically ignoring their advice and pressing on with their plans for this commercial enterprise that will be for the privileged few, but that will cause permanent damage to the local environment.

Walking in the Forest is a special and treasured amenity that has been available to local residents for many generations it is a tragedy that the keys are to be withdrawn and that access to walkers will be denied.

The Forest belongs to the nation! It is protected by EU law!
