A group of passionate locals has organised a shark net protest on the Sunshine Coast this weekend, the first in recent memory. Here are a few words from the organisers:
Come and join us THIS Sunday at Mooloolaba beach at 10:30am to be a voice for the voiceless!
The Queensland shark nets and drumlines are responsible for catching over 80,000 marine life, and they don’t even keep us safe… That’s why we are protesting for the removal of shark nets and drumlines and the replacement of non lethal alternatives that have been proven to be effective and will keep beach goers much more safe than the current program. We will have face painting, photos with mermaids, music, guest speakers and some amazing amazing prizes!! The more people the bigger the impact so bring all your friends, and we will see you there!
INFO: The protest will take place at 10:30am on Sunday September 15th, next to the "Loo with a view" on Mooloolaba main beach. We hope to see you there!
