Create OWCS South America with Blizzard
The Issue
South America is a region teeming with talent, passion, and an unwavering love for esports. Despite this, we lack representation in the Overwatch Champion Series (OWCS), which is present in regions like North America, EMEA, China, Japan, Korea, and Asia Pacific. It's time for South America to have its own OWCS, shining a spotlight on our talented players and vibrant esports community.
Every major gaming title recognizes South America for what it truly is a powerhouse in the esports world. Games like Valorant, CS:GO, Rainbow Six Siege, Rocket League, Dota 2, and League of Legends have thriving South American competitive scenes. These games succeeded not only because they recognized our talent but also because they invested effort and resources into cultivating it. We call upon Blizzard to do the same for Overwatch.
The potential for success in South America is immense. With a rich history and a wide array of formidable esports organizations such as FURIA, LOUD, Pain Gaming, 9z Team, KRU Esports, Leviatán, MIBR, Fluxo, Legacy, Shin Esports, and Infinity Esports, our region has already proven its capability to dominate global stages. These organizations have nurtured world-class players who have brought glory to the region by excelling in international tournaments. It is only fair that Overwatch, a game adored by many in our community, provides the same opportunities for our players.
South America's population is over 430 million strong, offering a vibrant mix of cultures and gaming enthusiasm. By establishing an OWCS for South America, Blizzard will not only empower our local talent but also tap into a massive market. This move will foster growth not only for Overwatch but also for the esports scene as a whole. More importantly, it will ignite the dreams of countless aspiring Overwatch players, who will finally have a stage to showcase their skills at an international level.
Through this petition, we invite Blizzard to collaborate with the South American esports community and establish a dedicated OWCS for our region. Our players deserve the chance to compete on equal footing with the rest of the world. Join us in this initiative to bring Overwatch Contenders to South America. By signing this petition, you're supporting a fair and competitive esports environment, giving South America the recognition it rightfully deserves.
